What AI needs to understand a brand before it can recommend it
Recommendation readiness starts with a clear, consistent public explanation of what a brand offers and who it is for.
Being mentioned is not the same as being understood. For a recommendation to be useful, an AI system needs enough public context to connect a brand, its offer, and the question a customer is asking.
A clear answer to a simple question
Start with the language a customer would use: what does the brand sell, for whom, and why would it be a relevant choice? That explanation should remain recognisable across the website, catalogue, and the public places where customers encounter the brand.
Consistency matters more than volume
More pages do not automatically create more clarity. Conflicting product details, outdated collection pages, vague positioning, or reviews that tell a different story can make a brand harder to interpret.
Build the evidence around the offer
Useful public signals include:
- Specific, current product information
- Category and use-case context
- A consistent description of the brand’s differentiators
- Reviews and customer language that add credible detail
The first version of an AI visibility report should make these strengths and gaps easy for a team to discuss.
